Sketching leaves

On Friday we sketched leaves in the Butterfly Garden. We are learning to look carefully at what we are sketching, and notice the details.

We looked at the different shapes that leaves can have, and noticed that they can be lots of different shapes, not just the 'leaf shape' that we often see in pictures. They also have veins and spines, and the edges can be spiky or bumpy.

We are going to use our sketches for an art project next week.
