Taniwha!  Friend or Foe?  
This week we looked at our beautiful school gate.  We talked about all the different carvings and in particular the taniwha carving. 
We found out in Maori legends taniwha were sometimes fearful creatures that harmed people and sometimes they were friendly guardians that helped people. 
On Friday we made our own taniwha masks with koru patterns using pastels.  We had to decide if it was a friendly taniwha or not.
